Interstate 10 in West El Paso will be shutting down for 57 hours beginning Friday night.
The Texas Department of Transportation announced that the freeway will be closing in both directions between the Sunland Park exit ramp and entrance ramp.
Sunland Park Drive in both directions will also close between Mesa Hills Drive and Doniphan Drive, and the Resler entrance ramp to I-10 East will close as well.
TXDOT told ABC-7 that the reason for the closure is so crews can demolish the overpass and steel beams that hold it up, along with most of the older freeway structures surrounding Sunland Park Drive.
Drivers will need to exit at Sunland Park (Exit 13) and re-enter I-10 at the next ramp.
The section of the freeway is scheduled to open at 6 a.m. Monday.
